Trust & vetting at Homeezy

Home improvement is a high-stakes purchase. Here's exactly how Homeezy approaches contractor vetting, payments, reviews, and disputes, so you know what to expect before you post a project or apply to one.

Contractor vetting

Every contractor on Homeezy must complete a public profile before they can apply to a single project. That profile is visible to homeowners on every search result and is non-optional:

  • Business name and contact details.
  • License number. Always verify with your local licensing authority before signing.
  • Liability insurance carrier. Always request a Certificate of Insurance before work begins.
  • Typical job cost range. So you can filter for the budget that matches yours.
  • Services and service areas. So you only see Pros who actually work in your area on your project type.
  • Portfolio. Real past projects from this Pro.

Payments

All on-platform payments go through Stripe Connect, a regulated payment processor used by Shopify, Lyft, and Amazon. Homeezy does not touch your money. Funds route directly from homeowner to contractor's bank account, and you receive a Stripe receipt for every transaction.

We do not hold funds in escrow at this time. If escrow is a hard requirement for your project, we recommend coordinating it through a real-estate lawyer or a third-party escrow service.

Reviews

Only homeowners who hired a contractor through Homeezy and completed a project can leave a review. Reviews cannot be removed by the contractor, but the contractor can publicly respond to any review with their side of the story.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, open a support ticket from the Help & support menu in your dashboard. We mediate using:

  • Project chat history
  • Signed contracts
  • Invoice records
  • Any documentation either party provides

For payment disputes routed through Stripe Connect, Stripe's chargeback process applies in addition to our mediation. Outcomes that hinge on local building codes, permits, or licensing are referred to the appropriate licensing authority. Those decisions are not ours to make.

Our limits

Homeezy is a marketplace, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with contractors and provide the tools to manage a project, but we don't perform the work ourselves and we're not a party to the contract you sign with your Pro. Each contractor is independently responsible for their work, licensing, and insurance.

Always verify license and insurance with your local authority before signing.
